Fundraising

The library continues to have many financial needs as we pay for the rennovation project. We also hope to raise funds for Phase 2 of our project, remodeling the upstairs.

Our capital giving campaign continues. We have raised over $30,000 toward our $150,000 goal. Donors of $100 or more will be recognized with their name on a plaque. Silver Sponsors (donors of $1000 or more) and Golden Givers (of $5000 or more) will be listed on a special display board created from one of our old card catalog drawer cabinets. Donations in memory of or in honor of individuals are welcomed.

State-Wide Reading Programs

Carthage Public Library has registered as the local coordinator for 5 state-wide reading programs. This allows any student in our area (including those who are home schooled) to particpate in these programs.

More information is available about each program by clicking on the links below.

For each program, there is a list of 20-25 books. Students are required to read a specified number of the books to receive a certificate, and a small prize.

For 4 of the 5 programs, students can then vote for their favorite book and the votes throughout the state are tallied to determine the year's award winner.

Monarch Award -- Kdg.-3rd Grade
Bluestem Award -- 3rd-5th Grade
Rebecca Caudill Award -- 4th-8th Grade
