Eligibility:

Service to low income/poverty individuals & families. Less than 125% of poverty and HUD Section 8 income guidelines.

Area Served:

Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, and Warren Counties

Services Provided:

Energy Assistance Program; weatherization program; community services block grant program -- comprehensive program to address needs of low income individuals & families; emergency food assistance program; and FEMA emergency food and shelter program.

Comments:

The WIRC, through the community development component, serves local units of government in Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, Warren, Fulton and Fox Counties on a per-cost basis with the following: planning and technical assistance activities; grant writing and administration; mapping; preparation of comprehensive plans, ordinances, fiscal analysis, or specific community studies; and economic development activities. The victim services component of the agency provides comprehensive walk-in domestic violence and sexual assault program services to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault/abuse. Included in this is a 24 hour access to crisis intervention through a hotline. Program and hotline numbers are:
