Eligibility:

• Must demonstrate an emergency need, which will be evaluated by a designated board member.
• Must meet income guidelines, and show evidence of income and family size.
• Must complete an Application for Assistance form at the time assistance is requested. A form may be obtained from any board member.

Note:  No monies will be paid directly to the individual.
       Payment will be made directly to the supplier. 

Area Served:

Only Hancock County residents are eligible for financial assistance. However everyone, regardless of residence, is welcome to attend educational programs offered by the group.

Services Provided:

• Eduational Programs: Held during the months of Feb., May, Aug., & Nov. at the Hancock County Health Department.
• Information for diabetics & their families, health care professionals, and the general public
• Opportunities for individuals with juvenile diabetes to go to Camp GranADA
• Individualized assistance on a short-term basis which may include: Medications, monitoring devices, and supplies; nutrition counseling, doctor visits, and eye exams

The Role of the Volunteer:

The Hancock County Volunteers for Diabetes welcomes honorary members or active members, who:

• Come to meetings
• Offer suggestions for programs
• Volunteer to man a booth at designated events
• Ask club, church, or civic organizations to donate funds; or donate yourself
• Tell others about the group
