The Feingold® Association
of the United States
The Feingold Program enables you to determine if additives and/or salicylates could be responsible for your symptoms.
Individuals who are likely to respond to the Feingold Program have often been labeled with hyperactivity, ADD (attention deficit disorder), autism, PDD (pervasive developmental disorder), or salicylate sensitivity.
What is the Feingold Program?
The Feingold Program is based upon an elimination diet
composed of two stages.
Stage I eliminates:
Synthetic (artificial) colors
Synthetic (artificial) flavors
Antioxidant preservatives BHA, BHT, TBHQ
Foods which contain natural salicylates, such as apples,
oranges, and tomatoes
Aspirin and medication containing aspirin
Stage II: After a favorable response to Stage I has been established,
the salicylate-containing foods may be reintroduced and
tested one at a time, as described in the Feingold Handbook.
