Hancock County Retired Teachers

The Hancock County Retired Teachers is a unit of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. The HCRT unit meets six times a year on the second Monday of February, April, June, August, October and November at different locations in Hancock County.

The HCRT has an enrollment of l50 and the IRTA has a membership of 32,000.

The IRTA Mission Statement:

The Illinois Retired Teachers Association is a non-profit, non-partisan organziation of retired educators. The Association serves the needs and interests of its member through advocacy, education, cooperation and socialization in a flexible organizational structure.

Luncheon. Speaker: Donna Harris, Habitat for Humanity

June 8, 12:00 noon - Carthage Park (west edge of Carthage)
In case of inclement weather, it will be held at the Methodist Church (one blook offf the NW corner of the square)
Speaker: Donna Schutte, Ombudsman Program

Aug. 10, 1:30 pm - Carthage Christian Church (1 block off SE corner of square)
Speaker: Roger Icenogle, Assistant Regional Superintendent of Schools

October 12, 1:30 pm - Kibbe Museum, Carthage (2 blocks West and 1 block South of 4-way stop on Hwy 136 in Carthage)
Speaker: Jackie Adkins, History of Hancock County Courthouses

Nov. 9, 12:00 noon - Golden's Point Church (5 miles north of Hamilton on 19th St.)

Luncheon. Musical Program: Elizabeth Hull. Honoring 1998 Retired Teacher-of-the-Year.
