Words of Praise for the Foreign Mission Work in India and the Philippines, by Lasserre Bradley

At the time of this writing Elders Jeff Harris, Zack Guess, and others, are in India. I was touched by this account I received from Timothy Guess who was providing information about his father's trip. "The brethren have arrived safely and had a profitable first meeting. My Dad said he definitely felt the Spirit as he preached on prayer. One very encouraging note. A man named Edward who lives in the northeastern part of India traveled 3 1/2 days by train to see and talk with these men. He could only stay one day, and headed back on another 3 1/2 day train ride. He had heard the Baptist Bible Hour previously, and had corresponded with Elder Jeff Harris some. He believes in immediate regeneration and was very open about rebaptism. He is a college professor in English literature, thus proficient in English. Please pray for this man."

When you consider the time and sacrifice this man made to be in a meeting where the gospel was being preached, it makes some of the excuses which are made in our country from time to time look pretty weak. How said it is when people who profess to love the Lord will let trivial matters keep them away from church or consider a drive of a few miles on an interstate highway to be too much of a challenge.

In another email directly from Elder Zack Guess he writes, "We are overwhelmed with the goodness of the Lord. His presence has been manifested in a mighty way. The first order of service this morning was the baptism. All together 14 were baptized. There were many hallelujahs and some shouts of praise. Then we felt the presence of the Lord as we constituted the church. It is amazing to us that the Good Samaritan Primitive Baptist Church in India is now a reality."

It is indeed amazing to see how the Lord has blessed doors to be opened in different parts of the world in recent years: the work in India and the Philippines, the trip to Europe and Africa, and all of this without the use of a modern mission board. By the time you receive this paper, Elder Guess and his wife, Judy, and Elder Thomas Mann and his wife Hannah, will be on a trip to the Philippines visiting some of these churches where Elder Gus Harter is laboring. Let us pray that all of these will have safe travel and be blessed in their ministering.
