NEW MOUNT ZION (NEGRO)
New Mount Zion Church, presently meeting in Pembroke, was organized before 1974. Elder Robert Johnson was the first pastor. Elder John R. Hawkins Sr. was ordained in 1974, and he and Deacon Delbert Davis built the meeting house that year. Elder Hawkins Sr. served as pastor until his death in 1998. Elder John Hawkins Jr. has served as pastor since that time. The church is a member of the Beuoff River Association.
